keeping in touch

Call it baduy, but I find that all these crazes help me keep in touch with people. Nung una, there was friendster. The first time I got an invite, super cynical ako. But when I started to find OLD friends, it started to be a way to re-connect. I mean, I found people I haven't seen, spoken to, or heard of in EONS. It was nice to find out what was happening outside my immediate sphere of influence.

Friendster then led to Blogging. Actually, I think the first one that I read was JB's. He's the little bro of my high school classmate--in effect, the little bro of the entire class. I found it so cool that he could express himself so freely. Seeing that I loved writing, I gave it a shot. Tapos my other friends started to send me their links...even encouraged some to create their own. After that, it was regular reading for me to visit their pages and leave messages on their tag boards or shout boxes or whatever messaging they have. Kakamiss makihirit sa mga kaibigan, eh!

Just this week, my Aunt Rachel set up a family website. I haven't seen many of my relatives on the Cabildo side for a LONG time, if that. Some cousins, uncles, and aunts I never even met. Kakainggit how all the cousins in my Dad's generation know each other, whereas some of my cousins don't even know I exist (and vice versa)! But this site is a great way to learn about your roots...and see the future of the family line. The pictures are hilarious and so much fun to look at. Finding you've got all these family ties this far away from home is great! I've gotten invites for visits already...wow. Saya naman yan! hehehe...I do hope John and I get to take advantage of some of those invites:)

Here's to keeping in touch with people who have each contributed to who I am...in some way, shape, or form...knowingly or otherwise:)
