Finals are over. I can sleep. Hahahaha.

John and I had dinner last night with my friends from the MBA program. I always enjoy hanging out with them just because they are such a fun bunch to be with. Instead of going out to dinner and spending an inordinate amount of money, we decided to pitch in and have me cook--which I enjoy, so it wasn't a big deal. While John got to know the crazy bunch I hang out with, I prepared baked fish, inari sushi, tofu fried rice, and mandarin orange crepes with raspberry brandy sauce. It turned out pretty good, actually.

I got Kate to eat fish, which was a first:) Jessica finally got her sushi fix. And even if Jason was half asleep, he still got his fill of his favorite dessert that I make. Kate's liquor cabinet had some excellent cognac that I added to the non-alcoholic eggnog that Jason brought. John loved the flavor and is thinking of buying us some of that (we'll keep it non-alcoholic, though. The eggnog I can handle. The cognac will be too expensive! Hahahaha). Even Jessica liked that concoction. Went well with dessert! So in general, it was a great night. Went home with some of Kate's mom's canned pears, green beans, fruit jellies, stewed tomatoes, dried chili flakes, and jalapeno jelly. Merry Christmas to us, huh?! Jackpot.

Kate said we could come over any time to cook for her. She has BOXES and boxes of canned stuff that I can use. [Thanks, Kate!] I told her maybe I can teach her to make some stuff. But she said that would be dangerous. I mean, she burns food in the microwave. Imagine what she would do on an actual stove! She said that's why we're friends...she can rely on me when she needs real food and not something out of a box. Sigh....I think I can deal with that. *winks*

Lunch with Disha

Earlier in the day, I had lunch with Disha. We were so relieved that Multivariate Statistics was over. Well, technically not for me since I take Advanced Data Analysis next semester (yes, so I'm crazy. Shoot me. It's kind of hard to say no when your co-major professor is the one teaching the class, you know. Besides, I know I'll need it for my dissertation...) But I regress...Back to lunch...

We were talking about not being in any more classes together since I've finished the Stat series and won't be taking any more at the Psych Department. I'm sad since I really do like being in class with them. It's just like my MBA classmates. They give me different perspectives on things--like my research. Sometimes, when you're all in the same field evaluating each other's work, you get tunnel vision and not really see the bigger picture. Disha and I agreed we need a little get together even when we do not have to study for a Stat final anymore:) It'll be a good break for the both of us.

Anyway, after talking about mundane and sometimes semi-serious matters over our not so healthy lunch, we decided to go into the ACME novelty shop. That place is so addictive. I can spend hours in there just looking at all the nifty, outrageous, and sometimes outright inappropriate gifts that you can get for people--or splurge on yourself (they have the most adorable bags, kitchen stuff, and things in general...too bad I'm a struggling grad student!). I found the most perfect gifts for Jess, Jason, and Kate there--and Disha too...made her laugh when I handed it to her outside the store. hahahaha...sorry Dish, I know you wanted that even if you said it was silly and somewhat disturbing.

I love that Disha and I can talk about the most serious things...or the silliest...or yes, the nerdiest things. It's nice to find someone who is completely different from you, and yet so alike. Kindred spirits, I guess. I know my friends from back home would like her if they met her. She'd probably fit right in...
