i just felt like venting today. this isn't really all that big a deal, but it just really annoyed the heck out of me.
so here's the scenario: i have a colleague whom i usually help by editing his written material. well, he's currently applying for something which i have qualified for in the past. so he asked me to help him with his statement of objectives. naturally, i said "sure." so to start him off, i let him read mine (gave him a copy, actually).
today, he asked me to read the piece that he wrote. the first few paragraphs were okay...needed a bit of work, but it was okay. to my complete annoyance, his last paragraph was LIFTED, yes, LIFTED from mine (it was actually my introductory paragraph)...i told him i didn't appreciate it and that he should change it. THE NERVE!!!! to think he asked me to edit it...did he really think that i won't recognize my own writing? GRRRRR! or that i'd just not say anything? what the....
so he obviously knew i was rather pissed (just a tad...). his excuse was, "but i just liked your expression. you said it so well, and we have the same goals." BULL!!!! i told him, "i don't care. change it. that's so NOT right."
man, i hate that. you offer to give people a hand, and they take your whole damn arm! what a dork.
