I came back to the office and everyone was rather quiet and sad. It was so strange. Then I found out that one of my favorite professors was leaving for another school. I was in shock! (I still am!) What a loss for our department. Dr. Jang is an awesome teacher, researcher, and mentor. He demands a lot of his students, but only because he knows we could deliver. His expectations are high, but it also forces you to climb a little higher. As nerdy as this may sound, he's one of the people who actually made me appreciate statistics. Or maybe because with him, I finally understood it!
I am happy for him because Purdue is a great school with a strong program in our field. But still, I can't help but be sad. I just hope that who ever we get to take his position will be as inspiring as he is.
Wow, I'm still overwhelmed. So sad...
