chick flicks and great artists

Last night, John and I rented movies and I picked out a chick flick, much to his reluctance. Anyway, I chose Princess Diaries 2. The movie itself was so-so, but John and I discovered this awesome artist: Renee Olstead. Her voice is unbelievable! She sang A Love That Will Last and we just had to go through the credits to find out who it was. At first we thought it was Norah Jones since she also has a song in the film. But wow. Talk about powerful and soulful! After checking her website out, I'm so tempted to buy her CD (well, more John than me, really). Check it out if you've got time. The website features full length songs from her debut CD. When you remember her character in 13 Going On 30, it's hard to believe the voice is hers!

So I told John he should be thankful I go for the chick flicks. They usually have those incredible artists for all the mushy feel...If not for that, he wouldn't have found another vocalist that's more his genre than the teeny-bopper one-hit-wonders that pop culture churns out:)
