One step closer!

Hello, all!

I know I've been gone for quite a while. It has been a very hectic and stressful month and a half...but quite worth it in the greater scheme of things...hahaha...

I am one step closer to getting my degree. I passed my preliminary exams (both written and oral). I think preparing for the exams was a lot more stressful than actually taking them. Once they were over, waiting to hear whether you passed or not was nerve wracking. But after all is said and done, I am officially a PhD Candidate--or in nerdspeak, A.B.D.--all but dissertation. I'm probably going to disappear again since I'll be writing my proposal, but I'll try to be a bit more visible. My prof wanted my draft last week--but after passing prelims, all I wanted to do was take a break. Now I know I'll have to get down to it. Sigh...

Last Friday was the deadline for an abstract submission for the Houston conference to be held in January. It took me all night Thursday to run my data. I'm not a big fan of statistics, so you can imagine how tired I was--especially when my data was not cooperative. hahaha. Thank God for friends who do live and breathe statistics--they really got me through. I slept at 9 a.m. on Friday with some semblance of an abstract sent off to my prof:) Before I could even get to dreamland, my phone was ringing with my prof on the other end ready to give me input. So much for sleep. With all the revisions, I was able to beat the deadline with several hours to spare. After sleeping in till noon on Saturday, I think my body has recovered.

And now, back to the grind...Gotta get that proposal draft done...

Have a great week!
