I had my first taste of Yoga today. I can tell you that I've been introduced to some of my muscles that I didn't even know existed...got re-acquainted with others I've forgotten about, too. I am in pain--but a good kind of feeling though. I think I finally found a work out that I like and won't mind doing. It will take a lot of discipline to continue going to the classes or finding time to do it if I decide to buy a DVD. But I think it beats all the other work out sessions I've tried. I think I should do the yoga so I can strengthen and tone before I go for the other stuff. I went to the taebo-kick workout and I ran out of breath before the class was even half-way through. Tried the "basic" step, too and yeah...not so basic! Then of course there's the hip-hop workout thingamajig that I thought I would enjoy...but I was concentrating so hard at not laughing I wasn't getting much of a workout:) The cardio-soul wasn't too bad but the instructor was going so fast it was hard to keep up. The moves were not difficult--if you knew them all by heart. There was no instructional part when they familiarize you with the moves..it plunged you right into the workout. But the yoga was good. My first time with the class, but didn't have a hard time following. It does relax you afterward, though. It's kinda like a massage, except you do all the work:)
Actually, I am in awe at what some of the people in the class can do--especially the teacher! You know when people talk about yoga as "learning to twist yourself like a pretzel"? Yeah, let me tell yah..they weren't kidding! Some of those poses look funny, but you'll be surprised, they can make you break into a sweat! Yup, definitely going to the next one. I hope I can fit the available classes into my hectic schedule. If not, I just might buy a DVD. We'll see.

Hay grabe, I am so inflexible, I have a hard time at yoga. I found Pilates to be easier and more appealing to me.
I thought of trying Pilates out too. We'll see how well I do in Yoga, then I'll look at other options:)
